A Thought

As I try to write a short story for creative writing class, I can't help but remember a tiny village I visited in the summer - Gangapur. It was an enchanting little village, with its primary claim to fame being a 1000 year old Chennakesava temple. It was this temple that took my team there, but the drive through brought out some things quite striking. The village seems cut off from the outside world in spite of a semi-famous temple and being just five kilometers from a town. Just five kilometers make all the difference... from concrete to huts made of mud and chilies drying on the ground, from children waving at a foreign 'car' to a temple at the centre of the village, the calm at all times, and the little things that make people smile. Its all surreal.

It's actually kind of amazing seeing the striking difference between the cities and villages. Kind of like villages are this sacred areas where city life cannot penetrate, and they're meant to be so simple and calm. According to me the best part in a bus ride or a drive to another city is seeing this contradicting lifestyle in villages...Nice post!!
